Twice a day, the tide covers the road to Holy Island and the pace of life changes. Lindislight grew from that landscape — its shoreline, its wildlife, and the beacon at Emmanuel's Head that inspired our name and logo.
How It Started
I'm Catherine, the founder and maker behind Lindislight. After years spent working behind a computer, I wanted to make something people would use every day — made carefully and with a clear purpose. That purpose is simple but uncompromising: natural ingredients, gentle formulations, and thoughtfully reduced packaging, avoiding plastic and choosing recycled, recyclable or reusable materials. That principle shapes every Lindislight recipe from start to finish.
Handmade with Purpose
Natural ingredients are not an added extra — they are the foundation of everything we make. Every soap is handmade in small batches on Lindisfarne, using generous amounts of olive oil or shea butter, skin-softening oils, and finely ground oats. Essential oils are used thoughtfully, and every bar is given at least six weeks to cure. Our balms follow the same approach, with every ingredient carefully chosen and nothing added simply for show.
Find Us on the Island
You'll often find me selling face-to-face at the Lindislight stall on Lindisfarne. I'll also be appearing at other markets throughout the year — dates will be posted as they're confirmed. Meeting the people who use our products is what keeps this business grounded — and it's what drives the commitment to making things that are genuinely worth returning to.
